Whiteleys Department Store in Bayswater, central London, is an architectural landmark. Built as a department store in 1911 (and claimed at the time to be the largest shop in the world), it became a well-known shopping centre in 1989 (it even features in the opening scenes of that Christmas classic, Love, Actually). But now it’s being redeveloped once again into a community destination that will include 139 high-quality residences, a cinema, a gym, a hotel and spa, 20 new shops, cafés and restaurants, and a central public courtyard.
I’m so proud that MJ Hillson Ltd has secured the carpentry and joinery package for this prestigious project for Laing O’Rourke. Our package consists of internal timber doorsets, ironmongery, skirtings, bespoke kitchens and furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E). We’ll be delivering this package with the Laing O’Rourke project team, together with our own supply chain partners.
