The Brief

Design was incredibly important on this project, with many bespoke items. We also fitted out communal areas with feature mirrors and the reception area with sparkly sprayed panelling. However, the centrepiece of the reception area was a piece of specially commissioned artwork, representing the Battle of Trafalgar (block T is for Trafalgar). We enlarged the artist’s image, then bonded it to panelling, installed an LED light and finally a unique, specially made sheet of thick glass that distorted the image in order to look like crashing waves.

The Approach

For this particular block in St George’s high-end residential development (comprising 85 flats and four penthouses), we fitted doors, skirtings and ironmongery, plus back-painted glass and vanity units in the bathrooms. The penthouses also required a feature staircase, wardrobes, bookcases, vanity unity and hardwood flooring. Working over nine months, we managed the process of getting contractors to design, manufacture and install wardrobes and coat cupboards.
