The Brief

This mixed-use 12-storey building in Holborn, central London, combines commercial use with 21 residential units (eight for sale and the remainder for affordable housing). Working with Laing O’Rourke, we fitted out huge bespoke doorsets in the central core, plus skirting and architraves, and then the kitchens, skirting, doors, wardrobes and bathroom furniture in the flats.

The Approach

Location was a big challenge for us here. Lorries packed with doors are tricky to unload safely in this busy area of central London. We had to book delivery times 48 hours in advance. We also had to overcome the removal of hoists we’d used for heavy loads.  This relied on the building’s lift system. Perhaps our biggest challenge, though, was protecting the pre-finished doorsets we installed from accidental damage.  This was a process which often involved fitting and re-fitting.
