The Brief

We worked in collaboration with other contractors to refurbish two sections of a 10-storey building, part of the prestigious Imperial College in Kensington, London. This 42-week phase of the job, in conjunction with Laing O’Rourke, involved us demolishing existing structures and then fitting out classrooms and laboratories following a rebuild from another contractor.

The Approach

Because Imperial College was a live learning and working environment, our biggest challenge was working out of hours in order to control dust and noise. The presence of students and the public meant we could only take deliveries at the beginning and end of the working day. We had to work hard to get all relevant materials on site in a short window. Our fitout included PVC doors, skirting, architrave, window boards – basically, a second fix.
