Internal doors & ironmongery

Hygiene was of course a key consideration on this project, and some of the architraves and doors were wrapped in a special finish that made them easier to clean and therefore helped to prevent the spread of germs. Our team had to overcome a physical challenge on this project: there was no vertical mechanical lift, so we had to carry doors to the first floor.
Working for Vinci, we installed doors and ironmongery on a new two-storey ward block for the Lister Hospital Stevenage – approximately 200 doorsets including cross-corridor doors, toilet doors and room doors. The project took around 20 weeks. Some of the doors were specially designed emergency-release bifolds, so if someone collapses in the toilet, the door can be opened from the outside.
