Principal Place in London’s tech-focused Shoreditch stands 15 storeys high, including basements, with much of the space let to Amazon. MJ Hillson’s skilled carpenters worked with contractor Multiplex on the central core areas of the building, including toilet doors and lobby doors, which form the spine of the structure with office space around.
Principal Place was a complicated job. The architectural requirements meant doors of a significantly larger and heavier construction than we had seen before. Added to this, deliveries to that part of London needed careful planning. The size of the doors meant our team at times comprised 20 carpenters. We had to ensure the self-closers were fitted correctly required a podium scaffold. These fire doors are designed to meet post-Grenfell requirements, and MJ Hillson managers are certified to sign off their correct installation.
